IN THE HEART OF AFRICA (Poem)
SAW A LADY IN THE PARK - FELT A SPARK
TOOK A SHOT IN THE DARK
ASKED HER NAME
WE HAD A VERBAL EXCHANGE
MUSIC IN THE AIR
LIKED HER LOOK - LOVE THAT HAIR
TRIED NOT TO STARE - SHOULD I DARE
ASK FOR A DATE - B/4 IT'S TOO LATE
IT WAS HOT - I WAS ON THE SPOT
RIGHT TIME - RIGHT PLACE
SUCH A CUTE FACE
THE MUSIC ENDED - SO I PRETENDED
I WAS GOING HER WAY
WE WALKED - WE TALKED
THE HUNTER & THE PREY
WHO WAS WHO - I COULD NOT SAY.
BUT SHE HAD THE AMMO & THE POWER TO SLAY
...THE STYLE, THE SMILE, THE SHAPELY PROFILE
& ALL THE NATURAL THINGS THAT COUNTED.
...I WAS BLOWN AWAY IN THE HEART OF AFRICA
READY TO BE BAGGED, TAGGED & MOUNTED.
