Lutheran Via de Cristo of Central Michigan

Welcome to the Lutheran Via de Cristo of Central Michigan, or LVCCM for short! Via de Cristo (Way of Christ) is the Lutheran expression of Cursillo, a Christian spiritual renewal and leadership development movement originally developed in Spain in the late 1940s by the Roman Catholic church. Cursillo came to the United States in the mid-1950s and was adapted by several Protestant denominations in the 1960s and 1970s.

Lutheran Cursillos began to emerge in the early 1970s in Florida and Illinois as ecumenical movements. In the early 1980s most Lutheran communities that were ecumenical in nature were renamed Via de Cristo. The national structure is the National Lutheran Secretariat (NLS) of Via de Cristo.

LVCCM is an ecumenical community based in the Tri-City area of Michigan (Saginaw, Bay City, Midland), but serving throughout the state. You can find out more about LVCCM on the “About Us” page. On other pages there is information on how to sponsor people on a Via de Cristo weekend, weekend and ultreya schedules (and maps to most ultreya sites), information about the LVCCM secretariat, a place to submit prayer requests, and links of interest to those who have participated in Via de Cristo or other movements based on the Cursillo method.
