At last there is LIGHT at Minimp Village, Mount Hagen, WHP, PNG

I was suprised when I got pictures of electricity connected through my village by Tiri Kuimbakul - a fellow clansman from Minimp Village. Our road network has been sealed some five years ago and getting electricity connected to the village is a dream come true for the 5,000 plus people of the Jika Kupingal tribe that live five kilometres west of Mount Hagen City towards Mt Hagen and Mt. Giluwe.

I was told that the power project would proceed all the way to Kwip Primary School and the Nenga tribe of the Mul/Baiyer electorate will also have the opportunity to have electricity.

(L-R: Johna Ulg Ketepa, Ken Koyati, Solomon Ulg Ketepa, NaiecyBoy Kuimbakul Tiri, and Emmanuel Waria Tiri)

Having electricity in the village comes with alot of advantages and one of them is to enable people to have cable TV in their homes. This will discourage the young boys (above) and their friends from travelling to Mount Hagen City to watch TV especially when there is a state of origin game which is played in Australia. My brothers (Johna and Solomon (above) called me the other day and asked me if I had any idea what to do with two of our generators that we use each day to watch TV. I don't have many of those options but just one random thought is that; I told them to donate it to someone who needed it but I think, they would want to sell it for some bucks, that's for sure :)

Finally, Minimp, Kwip, and the surrounding villages are going to have electricity in the next few weeks and I can't wait to get home in one of the summers ahead to see it for myself. The major power project at Minimp Village and surrounding villages at Kwip is the brainchild of Mr. Tiri Kuimbakul . A very huge "THANK YOU" to him and Managing Director of KKK & Sons in Mount Hagen, Mr. Baifke Brass Roika, and the hardworking committee comprising of Mr. HK Hongke Kik, Pastor Tembarui Tomba, and our young councillor Tamai Yok. I salute you, guys and a great job. "Let there be LIGHT and there was LIGHT"

Bro, good to see that you have posted the power fotos on your blog. For your information, the young man at the far right is my son Emmanuel Waria.

Cheers.

Tiri.
