Landowner issues are rampant in PNG
Hagen landowners must solve problem
AGAIN we are dismayed by the actions of a faction of the Moge tribe that turned off the taps to the water supply that caters for all the inhabitants of the city of Mount Hagen (Post-Courier, March 28). The so-called landowners who demand compensation from the government is absurd. Their claims could be genuine but their actions in disabling the taps to the city water supply system is illegal and those who are initiating this approach are sabotaging the daily activities of the city of Mt Hagen. Those found in the act should be brought to justice to pay the consequences for their ill-conceived actions. A remnant of the Moge tribe — one of the biggest tribes that surrounds the city of Mt Hagen can’t manipulate with the Government and take its services for ransom. Perhaps, the landowners, the Western Highlands Provincial Government and its stakeholders would want to come to a roundtable to amicably solve the issue once and for all. We urge all the leaders of the Moge tribe to follow the right channels.
