Balob Teachers College, Lae, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea

The building of the College commenced in July 1964 under the direction of Mr. L. Spike and was completed in August, 1966.
The normal classes did not start until 22nd February of that year. The twenty female students enrolled slept at Ampo for the first few weeks until the girls' dormitory was adequately completed for them to move in (

The College is now growing from strength to strength.

The number of teaching staff has increased. The College courses have been reviewed and the academic departments changed and amalgamated into 5 Strands. The courses are controlled by the Teacher Education Division of the Department of Education. The Division has the final say on the type of courses and assessment to be conducted in all Teachers Colleges.

An Institution of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea (ELC-PNG) in partnership with the Anglican Church. The College was established in 1965.The first Principal was Frederick W.Stolz.
