WAMP NGA HOLDINGS LIMITED

WAMP NGA HOLDINGS LIMITED
"Kampani Bilong Yumi"

A bunch of companies in Papua New Guinea are so helpful in helping the needy and cheapen with financial assistance for projects around the country. Well, companies should at least help with projects in the communities and give back to the community, not just merely making profits overtime. While some companies do business in Papua New Guinea under the pretext of helping the needy, there are companies who go out of their way to do enormous wonders for those they think is important to give back to the community.
One such company is, Wamp Nga Group of Companies (Wamp Nga Holdings, Limited). The name Wamp Nga means "Belongs to People" in the Melpa Language.
Wamp Nga Group of Companies was formed in early 1960’s by the Local Government Councils of Hagen, Nebilyer and Anglimp and has become the business arm of three Local Level Governments. The Company though owned by the Government is professionally run having full accounts audited and holds an Annual General Meeting every year. It has paid a total of K2.4million in dividends since 1985.

Under the management of Mr. Michael Makap (Group General Manager) and Chairmanship of former deputy governor of Western Highlands Province (WHP); Mr. Wai Rapa, the company has grown from strength to strength. Wamp Nga has helped alot of communities mostly in Mount Hagen, WHP. The company had funded numerous community school establishments; the Mount Hagen Market, and recently trying to join hands with the Mount Hagen City Authority to clean up Mount Hagen City.

We applaud Wamp Nga Group of Companies for taking the step forward to live up to it's name. It is always good to share with each other where more than 95% of our folks who live in the villages needed help where the government fails to provide for them. Companies should share with these communities in whatever that is needed to make their lives even better. There are countless villages in Papua New Guinea who need good roads, water supply, electricity, bridges, and basic infrastructure. Therefore, we urge companies to help in these vital areas where the successive governments have failed miserably to provide for the people.
