Boeing Take Off

For those of you who are unaware, Eva is the airline of Taiwan. This is a wonderful photo. EVA Air Boeing 747-45EM taking off from runway 36L at Amsterdam-Schiphol . The great timing and angle, and the size of the 747 makes this shot look quite surreal. The distance to the fence was 145 metres (475ft) !

Papua New Guinea has the potential...

We don't need anybody to dictate to us, I think we have got the potential to run our own affairs. It doesn't hurt to learn from others but on the other hand, we can't adopt other people's cultures, business practises, etc...

Papua New Guinea is culturally diverse and we have closely knit communities. Therefore, we can't adopt other people's ideologies because it won't work well for us; maybe for some well-to-do but may not work for the grassroots. However; We got to incorporate what is learnt from others to suit our own ways and needs.

From my perspective, I see two important factors missing in Papua New Guinea;

1. We need 'political will': When I refer to 'political will', I mean to express, and hopefully public, commitment from our leaders and every citizen to a sustained anti-corruption strategy to combat corruption at all levels.

2. A resonant and vibrant leadership at the helm to lead our nation at all levels of government.

We have the resources and the rich cultural heritage to make the world dance to our music if we consider the above two factors. I have lived in the US long enough to think that there is no other place like Papua New Guinea because we have the potential, the know-hows, and the resources to remedy our current situations to be a better nation. I still have more hope and confident that one day Papua New Guinea will come out of these doldrums.

I am glad that the elite of Papua New Guinea and PNG's friends far and wide are talking now about Papua New Guinea's affairs and how it should solve it's own problems . Let's get this message to our folks in the villages to keep hope and not to loose hope.

The plight of West Papua

By Andrew Johnson

We have allowed murder & theft for 47 years ever since the evil 1962 New York Agreement trading the people of West Papua like property to Indonesia, it was illegal and it was for the theft of Papua's mineral wealth by Freeport.

Before being sold like cattle, West Papua had held national elections in January 1961 and their New Guinea Council took office in April 1961 to help the Dutch governor draft new laws until independence within ten years.

And the governor asked the Council to draft a law that would protect West Papua's mineral & other wealth for benefit of the Papuan people. Instead, today Freeport operates the world's largest gold & largest copper mine stealing Papua's wealth for benefit of Freeport and it's partners, and Freeport is very very camera shy.

Three years ago I discovered the secret about the 1962 New York Agreement, the true history of how and why the US government was manipulated into slavery of West Papua. In December 1960 Freeport director Robert Lovett purchased an introduction to the US President elect Kennedy (JFK), and recommended JFK hire Lovett's friend McGeorge Bundy to control the US National Security Council (NSC).
While West Papua was voting and installing it's own councillors, the NSC in Washington began telling lies to Kennedy that West Papua had to be sacrificed to Indonesia to save America from communism. The US record is now public and is available under the "Indonesia" heading at http://dosfan.lib.uic.edu/ERC/frus/summaries/950306_FRUS_XXIII_1961-63.html

Australia is also guilty of being silent in 1962 when it knew the Agreement was illegal, knew the trade was a violation of the UN Charter and UN General Assembly resolution 1514 which Australia, the US and Indonesia had supported in 1960. West Papua is a colony, as defined by the UN in UN General Assembly resolution 1541; and Indonesia in accord with resolution 1514 must immediately withdraw all forces of repression (the TNI & BIN) to allow an act of self-determination in accord with resolution 1541.

And because Indonesia was already a member of the UN and it illegally transported a million foreigners to Papua ; decency demands that the Act of Self-Determination be in accord with article 18 of the New York Agreement : "The eligibility of all adults, male and female, not foreign nationals to participate in the act of self-determination to be carried out in accordance with international practice", i.e. Indonesian citizens are not allowed to vote in a West Papuan referendum, only the colonised Papuan people get to vote about their future & their nation.
